The Office of External Loans is a department within the Office of University Financial Aid. It is charged with administering those student loans borrowed from sources outside the university, such as the Federal Stafford Loan, Federal Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS), Federal Graduate PLUS Loan, and private loans. Its staff counsels parents and students through all stages of the external loan process, including loan application, entrance counseling, disbursement, exit counseling and repayment.
A related office is the Office of University Student Loans, a department within the Controller's Office. This office works with ECSI, the designated servicer of Perkins, Health Professions Student Loan (HPSL) and University Loans. Repayment of these loans is also handled through ECSI.
